RECENT PROJECTS
Cisco | Mobile App Personalization
Research: Worked hand-in-hand with data science and engineering teams to craft a unique research program that enabled us to work with existing customers and tailor a working prototype using live data. Tested proposed UX features while also evaluating model performance on the impact of user response time, information reliability, and overall product satisfaction.
Results: We achieved a 100% satisfaction rate over previous apps, with all of our large customers opting to purchase the new service immediately to help accelerate their network response times and improve overall response accuracy for high-need projects around the globe.
PerXAI | Responsible AI
PerXAI, a seed-funded start-up working out University of Washington’s CoMotion Labs, developed a platform to combat global misinformation campaigns and empower people to negotiate with recommendation algorithms.
The first step was to conduct user and market research to understand the rapidly approaching opportunities for apps and services using AI, and how people engage with AI-driven apps and devices. We examined people’s understanding of AI and created unique ways of measuring interaction patterns and people’s resulting confidence in the information they received and the subsequent actions they took.
Foundational research supported the design and engineering of the initial product and aided fundraising. Ongoing user research in partnership with ML engineers ensured the UX worked as intended with the underlying algorithms.
Cisco + Webex | Future of Work
Research Challenge: When the pandemic lockdowns began in March 2020, Cisco and the Webex division were well-positioned to help businesses adjust to the new work-from-home reality. To capture this explosive new market, we had to act fast to demonstrate that our recent and ongoing user and market research on the Future of Work supported rapidly deploying and delivering hybrid work kits to teams around the globe.
Vision: Quickly deploy and deliver millions of Shelter-in-Place Kits (SIP Kits) with all of the necessary hardware and software (plus a few creature comforts) to conduct seamless video-conferencing meetings and work from home.
Results: Coordinate with executive leadership and teams across marketing, sales, product, hardware, legal, and supply-chain management. The deployed kits were able to get customers up-and-running quickly and greatly eased the WFH adjustment period.
Microsoft Incubation | Building a strong innovation pipeline
Challenge: Work with studio leads to build and launch a fast-paced innovation program for a high-profile - but stealth - cross-functional incubation team of designers, strategists, and engineers creating near-future AR/VR/MR consumer-facing technology.
Research: Conduct extensive market and competitive research to define the incubation model that best fit the team, the goals, budget, desired outcomes, and timelines. Next, build and implement an engagement strategy to create partnerships with executives across the Windows Experiences + Devices org to raise the team profile, create demand, and ensure strong working relationships between teams.
Results: We successfully built a high-functioning and highly-collaborative engineering environment of learning, rapid ideation and prototyping to accelerate commercializable innovations.
